A Bit of History...
In 2005, The Fairy Paintbox began as a mural painting service. While a student at Penn State University, artist Emily Curran painted murals in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. Her major? English. Taught how to design, paint and draw by her mother from an early age, Curran chose writing over art school. Instead, she sought out a degree in English and creative writing. When everyone else was asking her, "What will you do with an English major?" Curran was busy building her seemingly unrelated custom art business.
During Curran's senior year, she took a design course that focused on fonts, website design, manual and book design. This course inspired her to take The Fairy Paintbox in an entirely new direction. Using what she'd learned, she laid the groundwork for her own brand and online presence.
After graduation, marriage and babies born, Curran naturally incorporated her English background and love of writing, fonts, lettering design, language and art into one business, transforming what once was a traveling muralist service into a studio-based business with an online storefront and customers worldwide. Her custom wood wall lettering and designer painted letters remain her top selling product.
With over 1700 fonts, many sizes and thicknesses to choose from, her wood and vinyl wall lettering products offer limitless possibilities to the customer.
As a mother of 5 and a lifelong artist, her talent for recognizing and creating imaginative and kid-friendly decor brings a level of quality and craftsmanship that goes unmatched.
